Industrial Association Lassipora elects new body

Srinagar, Aug 13: Industrial Association Lassipora, the industrialists’ body of the J&K’s one of the biggest industrial estates, elected its new executive body and president in the election process held at the estates on Thursday.

The new elected executive body comprises of Haji Mohammad Muzaffer Ahanger as president, Mukhtar-ul-Qadir as senior vice president, Bashir Ahmad Sheikh as vice president, Mohammed Shafi Ganie as general secretary, Sarwar Hussain Malik as financial secretary and Mohammad Shaban Bhat as the organiser.

About eighteen candidates contested for the six posts of IGC unit holders management council. Votes were cast through a secret ballot. The body is elected for the two-year term.

The candidates contested the elections in the three groups and the group named Dynamic Six won with the thumping majority.

 

31-year-old entrepreneur, Sarwar Hussain Malik, made it to the financial secretary, becoming the youngest member of the body.

 

The new president-elect of the body, Mohammad Muzaffer Ahanger, in his victory message, said his mission as the president of the association would be to make the associations and estates visible and work towards the welfare of the industrialists.

“I would like to thank everyone who participated in this year elections, took their time and voted for candidates. It is my honour and privilege to serve our association, and I would put my time and efforts to make it worthwhile for our estate,” he said. “I am honoured and at the same time humbled to be the president of IGC Lassipora for the next two years.”

Serving as the president, he said, would be a challenge, but with the team that has been elected, he will put all efforts to meet the objectives of the body and expectations of the industrialists. “I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to those who have persuaded, nominated and counselled me during the entire election period,” he added.

Meanwhile, president Federation Chambers of Industries Kashmir (FCIK) Shahid Kamili congratulated the newly elected body. He said the IGC Lasipora is the largest industrial estate of J&K, and its representation in the Industrial sector plays a pivotal role. “The democratic process has been adopted and the election has been conducted smoothly & under conducive atmosphere by the election commission,” Kamili said.

President Industrial Association Khunmoh, Imran Murtaza also congratulated Mohammad Muzzafer and his team for winning the election.

“I am hopeful that IGC Lassipora will prosper in the leadership of Haji Mohammad Muzzafer and address all the concerns of the industrialists,” Murtaza said.
