Srinagar, Dec 10: Fruit Master Agro Fresh, a J&K-based agri-solutions company, Thursday signed an MoU with LuLu Group International in Dubai for the supply of Kashmir apples and other fruits to the Abu Dhabi-based hypermarket chain spread across the Gulf countries and beyond.
CEO of Fruit Master Agro Fresh, Izhan Javed, singed the memorandum of understanding with Director, LuLu Group International, Salim MA in presence of Principal Secretary Agriculture Production Department J&K Navin Kumar Choudhary, Consulate General of India in Dubai Aman Puri and Director Horticulture Kashmir Ajaz Ahmad Bhat.
LuLu Group International is an Indian-owned Dubai-based multinational conglomerate company that operates a chain of hypermarkets and retail companies, owned by Kerala-born MA Yusuff Ali. Company is one of the biggest retail chains in operating in Asia and beyond with 193 outlets and 13 malls in GCC countries.
Presently, a business delegation from J&K led by Chaudhary is participating in UAE-India Food Security Summit, 2020 with an aim to promote horticulture produce of Jammu and Kashmir in the international market and tap the Gulf market.
LuLu Group to invest in J&K
Besides the signing of the MoU, a high-level meeting took place between J&K delegation led by Choudhary and LuLu Group chairman and MD Yusuff Ali. Several decisions were taken in the meeting to promote export of Agriculture and Horticulture products from Jammu and Kashmir to the entire gulf region using stores of Lulu Group.
“A team of Lulu Group headed by Yusuff Ali is visiting Kashmir in February to start setting up of an office at Srinagar besides identifying location to establish warehouses and packaging facilities,” said Bhat via phone from Dubai.
According to an official spokesperson of J&K Government, Principal Secretary assured all help to Lulu Group for setting up logistic facilities and offices at identified facilities in the UT.
Chairman Lulu group also offered to host a “J&K special’’ fortnight in all supermarkets of its group across the gulf region on the occasion of Republic Day 2021. This fortnight celebration will begin on January 24 and will showcase all of J&K’s famous products like its cuisine and cultural heritage.
