Shopian, Sept 27: A team of revenue officials headed by Tehsildar Shopian Sunday retrieved 55 kanal of kahcharai land during an anti-encroachment drive in Wangam Sudershanpora, in Tehsil Shopian.
The drive was conducted with the aim to safeguard public property and put it for public use, one part of the same patch was handed over to Rural Development Department for the development of Playground in the area on the spot, an official spokesperson said.
Tehsildar Shopian has evicted 15000 kanals of Kahcharia and state land in the last two months.
The Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, according the statement, has appreciated the team and emphasized that such drives would be intensified across the district and all the encroached state and Kahcharia land, would be safeguarded in a phased manner and land banks would be created in each village which will be later on used for public purposes.
The Tehsildar on the occasion said that the emphasis is on creating village wise land banks that would remain readily available for any development project in future.
